Summer went by like the breeze

caressing the wheat fields

in the harvest season....

the excitement did run high...

nonetheless, enough to sustain
our expectations
Stern Grove music concert

the free concerts in the city
perked up to a higher pitch
the city folks mood for enjoyment
and fun.
Aubrey at the range
Aubrey went to the US Open qualifying
try out.... we practiced putting together
before the event

tourists at Fort Point
art chat in the Legion of Honor museum

attended an art opening reception
at the Studio Gallery on Pacific St.

Heather, a fellow artist posing for me at Studio 13...

Stacy, a tourist from Toronto found time to pose
as an artist

Art wise, i sketched charcoal

Marissa sat for this portraiture
and painted portraits
just for fun ...click the image then

and I'm glad to be part of a music/video project
for  SF musicians documenting their observations
in music form of the art and artists life in the city.
Summer seems to be the season that brings to fullness
life that for a while went dormant in winter,
Joggers and hikers take the 2 to 4 miles hike in Pacifica
on a nice and mild  or even warmer sunny day
be forewarned fella !

joggers uphill and downhill

just an exercise

howdy !
hikers this many can scare a lion...?!!!
it's just another mile....
another sign means the park rangers are serious....

It really doesn't scare me a bit...
when i was a kid ...I had a face to face
intimidation with a lion ....I'd say
a foot or a foot and a half away
was a reasonable estimation of our distance
...he growled....
so I growled back...
then he double growled...
guess what?
nothing happened ...he went his way
... before i could triple growl...
as the security guard pulled my shirt
collar to stay away
from the 3 inch tempered glass
that separated me from the
disappointed beast...
view of Pacific ocean from the hills
Anyway I started my way back
before a highly defined growl
may spoil the joy of the hike...
to have a glimpse of these flowers
that are quickly disappearing as fall
is already around the corner...
and enjoy memories of new acquaintances...
in the summer gone by...

that's all folks !

Bonne nuit !
Gute Nacht !
Hasta la vista !
Mata Ne!

life resides it seems to the women...

work still in progress...

that inspire artists.....
Courbet, Manet, Van Gogh
to name a few have their own
stories to tell.

Courbet painted the
"origin of the world",

Manet had "Olympia"
Olympia

 Van Gogh...!?
legion of honor pierre bonnard exhibit

well, he sort of fell in love with a woman
who for all we care got him to paint
splendid artworks  hanging in museums.

We have inklings from passed on knowledge
to understand fragments of their lives
related to women, romantic or otherwise.

Cutting an ear off on account of a woman
is a bit off tangent but one can get
"crazy" as the saying goes...
pierre bonnard nude painting

even the great Samson didn't survive
the feminine mystique...yes?
so why would anyone expect otherwise
from a non herculean mortal like Van Gogh?
But opposite attracts. Liability to fall for the wrong
person is termed by romanticists
as "magic". regardless
if she were lady of the night.
a painting i copied from the original

And here Van Gogh was a slave of
his feelings. Perhaps , the lyrics of
"I'm a Fool to Want You",
(Frank Sinatra) and "Prisoner of Love"
(Perry Como) could aptly describe
the intense emotional entanglement
Van Gogh went through.
He's simply made of straw.
He has a natural weakness and was
predisposed to "err " perhaps because of his sordid
conditions ...of loneliness or
on the other hand, he may have seen
a silver lining from her dark side...
she's not exactly bad news but capable
of giving warm love and tenderness...
and to Van Gogh , this was enough.
In the days of Solomon and the
Pharaoh's men surrounding queens
were caponized to mitigate the untoward
likeliness of the irresistible and captivating
pull of their charms.

p.s.

Lucky for you and I we're out of that era
but don't be so sure...
there are naughty women out there
vulnerable enough to cling to this ancient
idea.

advise.... don't sleep soundly...
if you know what i mean ...zzzzz !!!!

..... is just as relevant as Important

The pier with the schooner and alcatraz in bg
....when the afternoon had run its course and nothing for certain
happened to your day...but instead, part of it brought you down...
I suspect it's time to take a walk and make assessments
and reflections...
Taylor at California St
Taylor Street is not too shabby an avenue to pace
in twilight time...
Grace Cathedral ...left corner is where I parked

I found parking right across the Grace Cathedral as the
radio is finishing Arthur Fiedler's rendition of the song
"By the time I get to Phoenix"...
Mark Hopkins Hotel was featured in Vertigo
and Bullitt movies
I started my leisurely steps up Taylor as this part
of the city is slowly getting engulfed by the fog...
TransAmerica pyramid already covered with fog
walking dogs or book reading in the park is worthwhile
the still quietness of the street and the moderate
noise emanating from the cafes

was good enough for
the solitude I was hoping for...
making notice of anything including inconsequential
run of the ordinary...
near twilight is the best time to walk ...very meditative
Why? didn't exactly know why...
but did it just the same for the motion...
somehow it relaxed my cerebral faculty...
and found a reasonable logic to it
afterwards....
as I found myself opening up
rooms for sensitivity and its occupancy for
matters with pertinence.

Starting out at the park... I noticed
showing off their pets...
people with dogs gathering as though
a convention
"to loosen up" has just commenced...
I could hardly make out
what it is they're talking about...
killing time...
everyday pleasantries perhaps or
more importantly...
would you believe?...
about nothing.
just shooting the breeze...

the walk was  like a commune with nature...
remember the Kung Fu TV series?
"being one with nature, grasshopper
is good"...

I listened to Karl Schett's guitar
music of Giuliani's Concerto in A major op 30
as I drove back to my dungeon...
twilight view of Bay bridge  on Taylor

In the end , "gotta look at life from
both sides...when something is lost...
something is gained".
Trish (a photographer) and baby Vicente at my easel

If you're out of towner coming to visit the city
in summer, be advised to have a sweater
handy. It gets chilly in the evenings.
About high 40s to low 50s.

that's all folks!

Gute Nacht !
Bonne Nuit!
