Walk through a storm....

till death do us part....

is not exactly simple as the birds and the bees...
migrant Canadian geese at harding park

it has been the standard recitation
for lovers leading up the aisle.
fog on highway 1 in Pacifica
Early evening in Pacifica

in the early evenings,
the fog and the hills in Pacifica
are locked in an endless embrace
as if they're saying
"we'll make a space and
share the moments till eternity"....

nature certainly had demonstrated
this for as long as Pacificans can
remember. And for all we know,
this phenomenon had been
from time immemorial.

Mother and daughter on Bay at Larkin st

however, with the modern times
it seems that lifestyles

museum day at Legion of Honor
and everyday stresses
bring about conundrums
and dubiousness to this social
norm of romantic promise and pledge.

the evolution of culture from the west,
hollywood romantic and sentimental movies
and the age of aquarius cast its
Haight St
influence around the planet,
intentionally or not, the notion
of commitment was obfuscated.
the coffee roastery on chestnut st...hung out here since mid 90s

Permanence in commitment has become more like
an ideal aspiration than an objective reality.
floundering boat at lake merced..
Nowadays, the promise is foggy and tentative
in nature. There is fear and vacillation.
It's just a matter of time before one
is painfully manifested as part of
statistics.

in the earlier part of the 20th century,
it seems society was able to resolve
and avoid with pride, differences
and misunderstandings for those
in relationships. Perhaps life was
slower and financial difficulties
that bear down, among other
sociological reasons,
aren't as common as they are today.
Bay at Larkin St

there is probably none among us
who has not been gypped for one reason
or another. The good news is that we learn
from it and we try to be nice
not to do it to the next person.
A correctional relief , if you will,
to the dimension of the idealism
and forever-ness of commitment.

Speaking of hollywood, it might interest
you to watch two of my favorites:
"Carousel" and "the promise".

500 miles in the middle of nowhere...

essentially , that 's how it feels at times ....

when one is lost somewhat...
sometimes as a result of not having
"things to do" list...
train on market st

Somehow I feel comfortable
just to be partially spontaneous
and do things on the spur of the
moment...however, when hitches
arise...I find myself lost
500 miles in the middle
of nowhere.
on Franklin St...on the way to Pacific

for the moment, my target site for plein air

is the house that sits at the corner of
Pacific and Divisadero...
past the noontime sun, from
where I'm situated,
it appears grandeur but
contains a contrasting element
in a sort of figurative manner...
it is lacking warmth...
"A house is not a home"...
lyrics of a popular song came to
mind the first time i saw it,

while i was spotting for plein air
sites and subjects around the city...
that contrast caught my interest
and attention to create a
painting...
work in progress
well, it's break time...i'll continue
on another day...i just received a text
from somebody at the SF conservatory,
for a pop up sale down at Flax art store
on market...

I'll keep you updated on the
painting's progress.

that's all for now folks!

Never a dull weekend...

in America the first week of May ....

celebrates mothers and/or motherhood...
sociologically speaking, i think, it
pertains more to the sacrifices
and challenges of the
undertaking....
and their consequent
contribution to society
via the kind of children they
bring up.
roses for moms is a tradition on mother's day
at St Brendan

then the spring cleaning weekend
comes up for us to get rid of stuff we
don't need...
I ran into
Rachel and Parker, Annie and Gabe
on Irving
on Sunday after church....
doing their garage sale.
Rachel and Parker are moving to
Switzerland...
Rachel (left) and Annie (right)

on that same Sunday at the
Presidio grounds, "off-the-grid"
caters to hundreds of picnickers
basking in the afternoon sun...

When a parking spot at the Cole
Boulange is almost impossible to find,

 it must be
Bay to breakers ...
which also happens on
a Sunday....
Thor, where art thou ?
goofy costumed participants...
somewhat refreshed after the craze...
tired and exhausted after the march...
they sat at the train stop...
at the bus stop....
The memorial weekend is at the end of the month...
originally to celebrate the soldiers who died in the
civil war and all the succeeding conflicts thereafter...

that's all folks!

have you got the time ?

.... creative people are faced with the issue of managing time...

and that is amongst other problems like
finances and the sustenance for creativity...
Crissy field in SF on a warm sunny Friday

take a regular day where all deal
with the same 24 hours...
for the sake of
calculating where time is really spent...
smartly or  whimsically squandered...
Rocky

imagine, if you will,
the following activities
require time allocation :
 night rest or sleeping
 for eight hours...
then as soon as one
wakes up... there is freshening up
or bathroom time
for an hour...
breakfast for half an hour;
lunch for another half hour;
dinner for an hour;
2 coffee breaks for an hour total
to settle our nerves
during the work hours;
commuting time to work
at least half an hour up to
one and a half hours depending on your
work location;
work time for another eight hours...

let's not forget house cleaning;
laundry; dishwashing; cooking;
going to church on Sundays;
going to the supermarket;
walking the dog;
hugging the boa
(make sure it's not the other way around);
swatting the fly;
scratching your back;
tying shoe laces;
opening mail; surfing the net;
Fort Point, location for Hitchcock's Vertigo
a listening engagement with your
girlfriend while in a traffic jam;
and other so called recreation
activities ...
tourists on bikes at Crissy Field

to summarize, the major time
takers are sleeping and work which
total 16 hours ...
how does one manage to
allocate the balance of 8 hours
over the other activities
seem to require a Houdini act
from each and everyone...
and which we aren't...

suffice it to say we are
nothing but stressed out
lunatics...
Pierre Bonnard exhibit at the Legion of Honor

artists who work for themselves
fall short of these regular loonies...
but still find themselves
running after time...

Would it not be great, if for a moment
someone makes a revision of the
24-hour day and makes it 48 instead?
just so we can have extra time
to goof around...

sometimes, one wonders if
Thoreau and Walt Whitman,
may have complained about time..

Perhaps, we need people like
Drucker, Humble and Batten
to keep us company in
this time driven world !
Theresa, SF classical guitar player/musician

...to be able to smile and
have kind thoughts for our
fellow earthlings...

WHO LET THE GOATS OUUTT ??!!!!

.... one of the lovely subjects that fascinates me...

as well as other people
Milla painting Mori Point in Pacifica

like these students who stopped by and
who seem to have the cultivated tastes
as Morisot, Cassatt and the other
great women artists ...

Kalea and Tom doing a finishing touch to my painting
while a fellow artist and I were
plein airing in Pacifica last Saturday...
hang glider making a touch down
is creating art...
Sometimes one's future
is influenced
by sheer exposure...
who knows they might pick
the arts..
instead of law, medicine.
psychology or philosophy...
or whatever...

another subject equally intriguing...
is that man might be replaced by
computers...a thinking that
dates back in the
decades following
the beginning of the
space race....

Industry leaders
in the computer tech
at the time...
caused a lot of social angst
and eventually workers
were displaced by
computers.
...as we, "fast forward",
a term originally used
in the recording industry
when magnetic tapes
were used for tape recorders,
meaning to skip and jump
to the current recording cut,
 yes, you guessed it right!
...in a fast forward mode,
now an adopted term
to mean from past to present...
man is faced with
the greater possibility
of "really" replacing
himself with his own creation...
IA-an artificial intelligence...

Some people think this is absurd.
But just the same, the idea is
intriguing enough that action had to be taken
to prove that it can be done...
starting with robots that
are empowered with pea-
sized brains...

Luckily, for some lower forms
of animals, they don't have
the fears that humans suffer from.
...getting replaced
by computers
is non existent...
Walt Whitman and Alvin Toffler, were they alive today...
would have told our modern society
"I told you so..."
As the dry season is starting
a little early, some
are taking the extra precaution
of minimizing the risks of
brush fires....

by employing goats to graze on
backyards with
 tall grasses...

when the computer age
makes its full circle...
you can bet
some would rather
be goats...

mheeeehh !!!!

Thats all folks!!!

jussstt like that....

....one thinks Spring has sprung....

but the weather lately tells me
First responders standing by...on Great Hwy
summer snucked in like a
stolen kiss was felt....

such is the weather....
too unpredictable...
it's a game of hide and seek
fog on hwy 35
between the warm sun
and the gliding cool fog
that tries to cover
this piece of real estate
on the planet ....
San Francisco

what do we know about the weather?
the meteorologist thinks
relatively plenty...as opposed to
years ago when tech was run by the
neanderthals...
the crossing on Sloat/Great Hwy

Last weekend, city folks ran to
the beaches, clogging
Hwy 35
highway 1 going south
all the way to Santa Cruz...
but the smart ones
stayed to enjoy the
80's hot weather
sand dunes... great hwy at sloat
at the 3-mile-stretch beach
along the Great Highway...

like moths attracted to
the fire, people are
instinctively
attracted to the beaches...
beach near the Cliffhouse
when the heat
roasts their brains
like eggs in
a frying pan...
who knows
what the cerebral
will trigger
behaviorwise...
Rip current warning sign board

some went to the nearby lake merced
two people at lake Merced
to sit it out and meditate...
Meditating at lake Merced
or hack it out at the golf course....
Golfers at the Harding course

but all that ends well
with clean fun
is great!
Perhaps another such weekend
is in the offing...
sunset at 10 before 8pm
and it's something to look forward
to as well as
remember...

that's all folks!
