Haight is high!

....the Haight Street was closed off to traffic ....

for the weekend street fair ...

the three blocks running from Stanyan to Masonic
was filled with marijuana smell
and festive

with the
new generation
of hippies
and a bit over jubilant
 crowd enjoying food

 and music....

just coming from a plein air session at the
Marina green by
Fort Mason,  I
went to Goorin Bros Inc. for hats...
a hat maker company in SF since
1949 with earlier
beginnings in
Pensylvania.

 Jordy
Jordy
a psychology major who just
graduated at SF State University...
she's got my hat on
is a photographer on the side

the universal peace sign

Akari,

a fashion designing student
at the city college...
she just arrived from her vacation
in Osaka, Japan...

The street was billowing with smoke
emanating
from "burning rubber,"
a term for race car drivers
spinning the car wheels hard enough to
create friction between the wheels
and the concrete...

There is the usual barbecue
and burger and other kinds
of ethnic food for people to
satisfy their fill ...

 wound up the day
at Crepes on Cole...
the place was half empty

quiet enough for
a Sunday.

that's all folks!

goodbye Summer ....

....summer will soon be over....

hope everyone has good, happy
memories of 2014 summer...

a movie i can think of is
"Summer of '42"...

it's a great movie about a boy coming of age....
and the theme music,
"the Summer knows",
 is just as memorable
and enjoyable to listen to
with a bit of nostalgic mood...
composed by Michel Legrand...
health awareness volunteers at Harding Park
This was an
'SRO' movie...
Standing Room Only,
thanks to the hype
and the word of mouth advertising
that went around ...
it 's a good date movie...
Sunbathers in the park
the venue was full of
bachelorettes
as well as bachelors
majority of whom were all
college students,
sunbathers at the Conservatory of Flowers
college dating
is not the serious kind...
Mom's biking around with her son
it seldom leads to anything
more than a company
over friday night pizza parties...
Boat rowers at LAke Merced

Memories of close friends
looking through a sunglass
and outings and other outdoor
French tour group from Lyon, France at Sequoia national park
activities will find their
a beautiful tourist at Twin Peaks
way into
Weekend bikers
our memory banks...
quo vadis ...Rocky racoon...

that's all folks!

journalism culture

.....the trend seems skewed towards profiteering....

intentional or not some sectors of the
general public seem
to think the type of journalistic style is
predicated to make a few dollars...

take the truce in the case of Ukraine.
there was hope in the region
particularly by the civilian
population that a cease fire
be made....
a negotiation ensued
and by some pressure and
balancing of political forces
it did materialize in the
last 24 hours...

immediately hours after
over the radio waves and
television ....
broadcasters started pushing the
clouds of doubt as to how long
the cease fire can last...

as a listener and viewer
one is caught by the
intriguing presupposition....
and one is consequently tied
to continue watching
the opinions of columnists
and talk show hosts
enforcing the implied possibility
that cease fire may actually
not last for long...

this usually gathers attention
from naive and savvy viewers
such that when polled gives the network
a high rating that translates
to a lot of
advertising dollars...

the news makers know
it's much more effective to create
negative vibrations in the air
for it  unsettles the public
and the policy makers and
the business world in general
this way the news followers
are held to follow stories, like a
cliff hanger chapter,
forever and henceforth advertisers
are advised of the loyal and captive
audience for their products.

the culture of politics, ideology....

......it's seems simple but as one dissects the

simplicity of politics, ideology and religion...
one begins to realize a can of worm
had just been opened...

take a look at what's
happening in the
current
war torn regions
divided by politics,
ideology and religion...

it's not easy to create a perspective
for everyone to view
any part of it without raising an
eyebrow and starting a
vexing and endless
argumentation...

it's only when
the mind gets tired
of grinding...
that one stops to
argue and
decide it's
simply not worth
that much....

it's exhausting for the
physical brain to get
into the exercise of thinking very deep...
as these subjects
usually require...

in the end the idea of ...
live and let live...
is worth remembering...

peace allows mankind to
grow and develop
culture and
civilization
for its
own benefit....

catch you later,,,

LABOR DAY....

....it's not about a mother .....

giving birth to a baby....

you're gravely mistaken ....
if you thought labor is about that....
nor is it about crossing the street....

nah...ahhh!!!
it's none of the above....
it's a tribute to all the workers'
contribution to the economic activity
of the nation and hopefully resulting
to a better life for all...
In the bay area....
it's a holiday to do just about anything....
since the weather is gorgeous ....
there's a lot of promise for the
outdoor life....
at Crissy Field a kid's kite line is anchored while she's getting
food from her mom...
the hot weather  motivated some to go to
the bay...
a family enjoying the fresh sea breeze ....
sailing is one of the promises of the day....

I watched Samir fly his newly acquired toy....
a drone....
the drone is landing by itself when almost exhausting its battery power
the white object in the center tangent to the top of the trees
is a drone...
it can be flown within a mile radius....

2 copyrighted photos taken by the

hovering drone of us...
Samir  is on the reader's right side of the picture...1/2 photos
on the ground....
it's a fish eye lens from the drone...2/2 photos

a tourist doing a selfie ....

Alcatraz in the background....
that's all for now folks!

truce...

..... everyone in the Gaza and Israel region....

is happy and anxious to go back to normalcy....
thanks to the middle parties
who played for the interests of the region...
shattered lives and disrupted dreams
can take another chance
at realization...

on our side of the planet....
the usual grinds of everyday
living goes....
as one deals with
the needs of
individual and
societal function and existence...

in the art world....
artists go about the
usual needs and challenges...
you know ...
issues on
composition and themes...
subjects and treatment...
rendering and colors...
and of course the
natural elements
Warwick and Quenby...visiting London tourists
the plein air
artists face...

those are our usual
worries and thank
God
we don't have wars that
threaten our
lives...
Mia d'Bruzzi singing
"Those were the days"...

but we do concern ourselves
about wishing and
sharing peace and
happiness
to all our fellow
earthlings...

by the way thanks to
all who had been following
the blog...
particularly the
audience in Turkey
who had bloated
the graph fluctuation today...

ZOMBIES AT THE STEARN

.....over the years the Zombies ....

faithfully kept their music....

it was beautiful dejavu ....

they spoiled the crowd who were

very appreciative of their music

with almost unending encore....

were it not for failing vocal chords

due to exhaustion they
would have kept singing...

OMG !

what a day at the Stearns...
but she's not there anyway...
that kind of feeling makes the
fun half-heartedly felt...
thanks a lot
Zombies ...
for singing
"she's not there"...

amidst a lively and lovely crowd...
indeed....
she's not there...

so it's time to call it a day...

that's all folks!

catch you later...

Sergio Mendes

at the Stearn Grove Sunday concert....

performed the Girl of Ipanema
 and a few more
familiar tunes that made him famous in the
60's and 70's....

Sergio brought down the roof....
late comers entered via the western meadow...
some made it down from the hill side....
i followed this guy taking a short cut through the woods...
an occasion to initiate a toast....
parents took their children along for this cultural event....
kids and adults....
.... the baby boomers
a great crowd mix....
the twenty something....
shooting the breeze with a brazilian music in the air....
standing or sitting down....
the afternoon concert was
very pleasing....

switching to arrangements
adopting rap type music
didn't work the same magic
the way he did for his bosa nova....

so Ramon and I high tailed it
to attend the art opening of
Lindsey Kustusch
Lindsey in the foreground

at the
Studio Gallery on
Pacific street

cityscapes constituted
majority of her art works...
but her self portrait
was compelling
in terms of color
rendition
and mood...
it's a pity
i didn't have
the dough...
oh well...
(that takes care of that...)

it was a great success in terms
of sales and lively
attendance of guests...

this coming Sunday
the Zombies are coming to
Stearn Grove to mark
the conclusion of
the summer
music concerts....

see you at the Stearn!
