ALMOST THERE....

...... we've heard this phrase a dozen times...

and all we meant was that we wish we're there already...
we find, a lot of times, that there is still some work to be done...

and it's true.....
take this seascape work for instance....
a storm is forecasted to hit in the next 30 hours...

so i went to do my plein air before the storm gets here.....\

11" x 14" oils on canvas "seascape before the storm"

it's not signed yet....
like all other artists....
the signing does not happen until....
after a few more careful staring and
looking at the painting to see
if there is anything else  that
can be done to improve
the painting...
it's critiquing the artwork....
and in doing this ....
all the experiences and knowledge of the
artist is called upon to bear on
the art work....
this is the finishing stage....
and sometimes ... it
takes many hours of
examination ....
which involves putting the painting away
just to be recovered after
many days or weeks if need be
to be ocularly inspected again...
and see if a fresh look will
make a difference...
otherwise...
the signature is in order...

i'll put it away....
and we'll see what happens.

that's all folks!

p.s. you might want to compare this
with the first session to see how it had evolved
to its present state....
check the older page ....

i'm listening to the wee hours youtube
playlist of Sinatra...
"The Moon was Yellow" mix

enjoy...

bomb squad car and experts outside the building
in the end ....
it was just false alarm...
which is exactly what we desired to know...

later at SFAI....

i spent most of the time in the library catching up with
my readings.....
and at 6 pm

The other day while taking photos
 around California St.
I met Red
Red is a Mechanical Engineering student in Chicago
He's in Northern California looking for funds to
finance creative projects ....
He gave me the impression that he's
one of those outside the box thinkers...

We need more of these type of people

i hate being inside the box thinker...

OMG ! PLS DON'T TOUCH MY PAINTING...DARN TOURISTS !

.....it's officially the first day of Spring....

so after shower i took off to Francisco Street
Francisco St on Thursday, March 21
.... for my 5th plein air session
of my cityscape which I'm thinking
of calling,
" first day of Spring" ....

note: while i'm writing this page i'm listening to Vicki
Carr's ...."Goin' out of my Head"... and "Love Story"...

on the hillside of Francisco at the corner of Leavenworth
i went to set up my easel....

again....
i heard a lot of shutters closing behind me
all the time that  i was
minding the business of painting....
being a clear sunny day ....
tourists flock to
the city  and roam like ants ....
snapping their cameras for
memento images
of their trip to the city...
can't blame them ....
i've been  a San Franciscan myself
 for quite a while
and still i'm just like them....
quite fascinated by the
fresh sceneries
that unfold
in almost every block...

i left my easel to grab my coffee in
the car as my throat seemed a little dry....
and just as soon as i turned my back...

Christian, a German tourist, architect
by profession started to mess around
with my painting....
Christian with itchy fingers
you'd think that's the end of it ....
no siree.!!...
OMG ! not again....
Sarah and David Dollin of Newcastle, Australia
another Australian couple came by
and did the same ....
Elaine and Oliver Steynor from South Africa
and finally before packing up my easel
 a South African couple....
wannabe painters...
had the urge to do the same...

Ay ...yay...yay....
what a day !

better listen to Pat & Shirley Boone's

"Vaya con Dios"
dear tourist friends...

that's all folks !

I'll be in touch so be in touch!

GOLDEN GATE SUNSET

.....today being Sunday I went to the...

Marina green to paint....
 the sail boats

it was a gorgeous day in the mid 70s .....
it's a place to jog....
walk and for those with boats ...
to sail...
Alcatraz in the background
as the winds were inviting for sailing....

Ramon and Oat joined me later in the day to
take photos of the sunset....

The Golden Gate bridge sunset.....
 reminds me of a ....
Frank Sinatra love song....
 "I think of You"....

when you get a chance to listen ,,,,
youtube  it....
it's just plain beautiful....

Another Sinatra song ...is "The Moon was Yellow",
might wanna listen to it while we have a full moon
over the sky...

catch you later folks !

i'll keep in touch so you be in touch...

...spring and/or summer weather is here.....
the once bare tree a few weeks ago at Stonestown mall....
is now showing signs of life....the leaves are growing back...

but weather in the 70s is a little bit too warm
for these ladies by the bus stop...

i did a second session for my seascape....

seascape painting in progress...2nd session
painting is a great therapy and a very creative
endeavor for me....i'm sure it had been the great
excuse for a lot of people like Churchill.... in those
days when he had his share of troubles before and
during the war....
and probably saw painting as a way to
pack up his troubles.....
there's something to learn each day...
i'm sure...
and Putin's hyper...ism...
 might find this helpful nowadays...
coupled with soothing and peaceful music
....his troubles
will vanish like bubbles....
Marge....a Pacifica artist
Marge a Pacifica artist who happened to be driving by
from her plein air
session dropped by to say Hi...

that's all folks!!!
