BLACK ORPHEUS
the music was composed by Luis Bonfa
A lot of versions were created for this piece
and each and everyone does not depart
from the theme feeling of loneliness
whether the version
has lyrics or rendered instrumentally.
Just plain beautiful. It's the food for the soul
that sustains though one may be in a sad mode.
Play or listen to it at any time of day
though I would suggest to do it when it's really dead
silent perhaps in the wee hours of the morning
Believe you me it's very touching...
a day in the life of a fool
.....a sad and a long lonely day
i walked the avenue...
and hope i'll run into
the welcome sight of you...
coming my way...
I stopped just across from your door...
but you're never home anymore...
so back to my room...
and there in the gloom
i cried
tears of goodbye...
that's all folks!
hope you love it.
i'll be in touch so you be in touch

TUESDAY AFTERNOON LOG delayed...
THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!
INTERESTING thing happened to me on the
way to the museum
....the morning chapter continues through the midday
very nicely at the de young museum. .it's Tuesday and the
first Tuesday of the month means free admission to all the museums
in the city
for culture enrichment and appreciation...
for
everyone...
to enjoy life in an epicurean tidbit
.I said earlier ...the day could prove
really very interesting..
Listening to the russian gypsy music, " Two guitars and Dark Eyes"
got it all going...it's the magic of music.
And what do you know, I met Ksenia Bubukina,
a pianist, oboe and recorder player and a R u s s i a n.
While checking out the Ash Can group and American
Impressionists gallery
I saw her copying a George Bellows
figure painting ....
So I took a few candid shots of her without
disturbing her focus on her work.
Then approached and joined her at the bench
where we had a kindred chat. We hit it
without an anxiety barrier...
She said it's her dream to be an artist and so she started
sketching in the museum 2 months ago...
She did a self portrait ...
it's linear work but not too shabby...
She'll join the SFPEBS session for the month...
Today is Thursday.... I'm figuring out to go to
Valencia St and see what's going on in that
part of the jungle...
That will do for now folks!
I'm gonna run and get my fix ... after all it's a sunny day
one never knows when this will last...
I'll be in touch so you be in touch...

TUESDAY
Two Guitars and Dark Eyes
two great russian gypsy music
to stimulate a kale salad breakfast
on a clear and sunny day
where one has a clear view of the ocean
in the horizon from across the window
is a great way to start the day that promises a lot
to be accomplished.
Yes , first things first then the second chore
is my laundry and on and on. You
probably do not want to hear the rest of it.
Such is life a little dreary at times
but i'll reward myself with coffee when i go to
Boulange cafe and get it from a lovely lady such as
this
... inspirational for a person engaged in
a creative endeavor, don't you? Manet has a painting
similar to this if you may recall. I sketched her
quickly from another angle
I'd be doing my Cafe series next on
my "to do list"
There just seems to be no end to the fun
when one is "inspired" as they say.
Today's generation of artists are just
as lucky as the 19th century and the 20th.
Perhaps luckier... right now i'm fascinated with the
101 Strings orchestra youtube playlist streaming
ambient music for me.
Fascination is a word that is very close to artists.
They're like simpletons that can get fascinated by anything.
My sketch of the cafe lady is a fascination of her dainty nape...
didn't get to know her name but i'll
call her Lady X...
i'll write a little profoundly about this word
in the creative experience sometime...
that's all folks!
I'll be in touch so you be in touch.

MONDAY
I don't have an idea of how the day
will uncover itself. It was in the 40s last night
and the chill is still around this time though it's sunny
and clear around the bay area.
This is the quiet and empty scene in the neighborhood.
Obviously they've all gone to work
I just had my french toast,
sardines, tomatoes, onions, crepes and coffee. I have to run a few
errands including going to the repair shop to trouble shoot
something that's triggering the check engine sign.
It's not exciting that's for sure.
but i'll keep you guys posted. This is SF after all.
There's gotta be something out there that's redeeming.
Sonja is now in the Hawaiian islands by the way.
She's the German tourist who's on her 2nd month
of sightseeing America. She will update us of her
impressions of the art and culture that she'll experience.
that's all for now folks
SUNDAY LOG
Charles Schwab golf championship
T'was not the best weather for golf...
but it will do for the Sunday Championship round
I managed to watch the final round with the
extra complimentary ticket that was given
to me by a fellow golfer, Leo.
I got in late in the day and followed the first group
that I saw which was that of Funk and Allen.
I followed them from the 10th through the 14th. Funk
made a great birdie putt on the 10th and 11th while Allen
made birdies on 10th and 13th.
I left them at the 14th fairway to jump onto 9th
to watch Tom Lehman. But i felt the cold breeze
coming from the ocean and the sun was shying away
from the thick clouds so i walked over to the Beringer kiosk
by the 9th green to pick up a glass of cab
to warm myself up. SF is really a small town, cause while
taking my first sip of the red wine i heard a familiar voice
yelling at me and true enough it was Lee.
He's a korean golfer whom i had played 21 with
for many years. 21 is a putting game played
by the Harding regulars to pass the time
and to fine tune their putting skills. I wrote and
self published a short
book on how to play this game. I'd probably do
a second edition sometime whenever i find the time.
But this was before
they converted the course into
a PGA competition venue.
Anyway I chatted with Lee for a few minutes then
proceeded to follow Couples and O'Meara till
the long par 4 dogleg left 18th hole where Couples
saved par and O'Meara made a bogey.
Couples won the tournament with a six stroke lead.
This was basically a summation of my Sunday
not too shabby i'd say.
