I managed to watch the final round with the
extra complimentary ticket that was given
to me by a fellow golfer, Leo.
I got in late in the day and followed the first group
that I saw which was that of Funk and Allen.
I followed them from the 10th through the 14th. Funk
made a great birdie putt on the 10th and 11th while Allen
made birdies on 10th and 13th.
I left them at the 14th fairway to jump onto 9th
to watch Tom Lehman. But i felt the cold breeze
coming from the ocean and the sun was shying away
from the thick clouds so i walked over to the Beringer kiosk
by the 9th green to pick up a glass of cab
to warm myself up. SF is really a small town, cause while
taking my first sip of the red wine i heard a familiar voice
yelling at me and true enough it was Lee.
He's a korean golfer whom i had played 21 with
for many years. 21 is a putting game played
by the Harding regulars to pass the time
and to fine tune their putting skills. I wrote and
self published a short
book on how to play this game. I'd probably do
a second edition sometime whenever i find the time.
But this was before
they converted the course into
a PGA competition venue.
Anyway I chatted with Lee for a few minutes then
proceeded to follow Couples and O'Meara till
the long par 4 dogleg left 18th hole where Couples
saved par and O'Meara made a bogey.
Couples won the tournament with a six stroke lead.
This was basically a summation of my Sunday
not too shabby i'd say.
