Sweden's counterpart to Sargent, Sorolla... and
may i add Luna...
...t'was a great sunny and warm Saturday to check out the opening
for Anders Zorn exhibit...traffic on a warm weekend is always
expected in SF. San Franciscans are like ants who'd like to come
out of the dungeons to get a taste of the sun... so i took a short cut
through the Sunset district and cut through the golden gate park...
where autumn leaves are pretty...
to the 25th ave ..on to alternating stop signs on Clement
to finally the Legion of Honor
where early birds have managed to avoid the ...
onslaught of Zorn's art followers...
Zorn , Sorolla and Sargent and Luna
...all lived in the same era and have almost
identical fingerprints in technique and style.
Top 3 images are all Zorn's
Below are Sorolla's 2 paintings
and Sargent"s notorious Madame X
Luna's "Parisian life"
note: I'll look for a bigger image later on
After a while of closely inspecting Zorn's paintings
I thought i'd get my fix so I went to the museum cafe...
to come across four Swedish members of the
Swedish Education Association...
They are from left to right
Nina Webber, Lena Sivik, Bridget
Brink and Birgit Chase
All told Saturday was awesome!
One more thing I met the security officer Lorenzo
whom I have not seen
for many years since the time i spent copying the
originals
that's all for now folks!
Enjoy Zorn
I'll be in touch so you be in touch
